Case Study: HYDRO Systems Wows at Trade Fair Before Prototype Completion

A tight deadline and the product prototype isn't ready yet: No problem for 3D rendering – as shown here for HYDRO Systems.

Goal: Impress at the Leading Trade Fair – Even Without a Prototype

The main goal for HYDRO Systems GmbH & Co. KG was to present their new product MLGTMULT-2 – an Engine Change Trolley for Wide Body aircraft – at the MRO Europe exhibition in Barcelona.

The trolley allows for the installation and removal of main landing gears on large Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Since the device was still in production, a photorealistic 3D visualization on a large exhibition wall was intended to attract attention. The aim was to show the product in use to best showcase it at Europe's leading aerospace trade fair and impress customers.

An ambitious timeline of three weeks until delivery was also a factor.

    Challenge

The biggest challenge in this project was the technical precision of the depiction. As only CAD models were available, it was crucial to create textures and details as realistically as possible. Not least for the meter-high print of the visualization, where details needed to be clearly visible.

Additionally, the main landing gear trolley also needed to be staged in a realistically appropriate environment. For this purpose, the hangar and aircraft were also visualized accordingly.

RenderThat worked closely with HYDRO's marketing and product management team to coordinate details and ensure that the representation precisely met the requirements. Tight time management was imperative given the exhibition deadline.

    Solution

Our agency relied on an efficient and agile workflow, supported by close and direct communication between all parties involved. Thanks to a brief onboarding and direct contacts, corrections could often be implemented within minutes to hours (depending on the scope), and the visualizations adjusted with such precision in the shortest possible time that a quick and direct approval was possible.

This way, RenderThat was able to ensure that the final rendering optimally met the wishes and expectations of the HYDRO team.

    Result

According to HYDRO, there was overwhelming feedback from trade fair visitors. Customers and HYDRO's international sales team were thrilled to see the product, which is still in the prototype phase, already in realistic use.

The graphic and the digital twin not only attracted attention but also served as an ideal tool to explain the new product and vividly illustrate its benefits. And thereby achieving the main goal: to generate interest and understanding for the new product.
